Old Woking Cricket Club – OWCC

Old Woking Cricket Club is an open and friendly club based in Woking, near Woking Park and the Kingfield Football Stadium. The ground itself is hidden away with houses, woodland and a canal providing the perfect enclosure and boundary.

We proud to offer round-the-year cricket from January to December

A structured indoor training session at the beginning of the year which runs through to April. The Summer League season begins in early May, preceded by pre-season friendlies, and runs through to September. Then followed by Indoor 6-a-side tournaments from October to December.

On Saturdays, the club fields two teams which play in the Surrey Downs League.

On Sundays, we have one social cricket team enjoying friendly, competitive matches, whose mandate is to play an enjoyable and good standard of cricket.

– The club participates Indoor 6-a-side tournaments organised by T20 Community Competitions.

– We are also proud to have a growing juniors section, who are trained by a team of qualified ECB Level 2 coaches, helping to train the players of the future.

Conducts “All-Stars Programme” to promote cricket in the 5 – 8 years age bracket.

The Club organises family cricket tours. Participated in Indoor Cricket tournament in Vienna in 2018.

The club also has outdoor training facilities and there are adult training evenings run throughout the Season too.

We also host a couple of inter-club days throughout the Summer which are highly sociable and fun, but also usually quite competitive!

The facilities on offer at OWCC are fast becoming the best on offer in the region. We have two outdoor nets, a homely clubhouse and bar, arguably producing the best teas in the county, and with ECB Level 2 qualified coaches the training on offer here is amongst the best. And best of all our membership fees are very competitive and amongst the lowest in the area!

We are always looking to encourage and welcome players of all ages and abilities to our club and would love to hear from you if you are interested in joining.

OWCC was founded in 1962 when Kenwoods Manufacturing Company moved from Woking to Havant, leaving the ‘Remnants’ to play in Woking Park. The club quickly established itself in the local area. This was due to the enthusiasm and efforts of the members. The guiding hand through the club’s first 30 years existence was the late ‘Snowy’ Carter who sadly died in 1992. The clubhouse is dedicated to his memory.

Old Woking has leased its current ground since 1967 and thanks to the continuing dedication of members it provides some of the best cricketing facilities in the area. As Woking Remnants the club has won the Morrant Wey Valley Cricket League Second Division twice, in 1977 and 1985. The club changed its name to Old Woking at the end of the 1997 season. In 1998 the club came second in the First Division of the Morrant Wey Valley Cricket League and also won the knockout cup.

In 2002 the club became a member of the Surrey Downs League, where our 1st and 2nd XI teams lie in the First and Third Divisions respectively.
